A Practical Christology for Pastoral Supervision

Book Hero Magic crafted this summary to help describe this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Summary
A Practical Christology for Pastoral Supervision by Geoff Broughton offers a Christological framework specifically designed for enhancing pastoral supervision. It explores three pivotal themesโ€”the revealing, re-membering, and restoring Jesusโ€”based on key gospel passages from Luke and John. By integrating insights from theologians Martin Luther, Emil Brunner, and James McClendon, the book provides a thorough theological foundation to support effective supervision in faith-based contexts.

This accessible guide is invaluable for clergy, chaplains, and pastoral workers seeking to nurture well-being within their ministries through informed supervision practices.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

This book sets out a Christological framework for developing and delivering pastoral supervision. Pastoral supervision is a key consideration for any denomination, congregation, or faith-based organisation, so this is a vital resource for the well-being of clergy, chaplains, and a wide array of pastoral workers.

Three central Christological themes, the revealing, re-membering, and restoring Jesus, provide the theological framework for good supervision practice. The book draws insights from three gospel passagesโ€“โ€“Luke 24:13โ€“34, Luke 22:39โ€“53, and John 21:1โ€“14โ€“โ€“for its Christological themes. The practical Christology for pastoral supervision is deepened and extended through three theologians: Martin Luther (reformed), Emil Brunner (neo-orthodox), and James McClendon (small B baptist).

Professional supervision (coaching, mentoring, and spiritual direction) is increasingly soughtโ€“โ€“even requiredโ€“โ€“by many people in church and faith-based organisations. A Practical Christology for Pastoral Supervision will, therefore, be an excellent resource for theologians interested in supervision, practical theology, and Christology.
