100 Days
A picture book about the Chinese cultural tradition of commemorating a baby’s “100th Day” and celebrating sibling love.
A picture book about the Chinese cultural tradition of commemorating a baby's "100th Day" and celebrating sibling love.
100 Days by Kimberly Lee tells the heartwarming story of Anya, a young girl who cherishes her special days with her parents—rainy days, yellow days, and stay-in-the-park-for-hour days.
However, everything changes when her younger sister, Hana, is born. Anya starts feeling overlooked and forgotten, as Hana seems to receive all the attention. The family is busy preparing for Hana's 100-Day celebration, a Chinese tradition that commemorates an infant's 100th day with good luck gifts and customs such as the delectable ang ku kueh, red envelopes, and the baby's first haircut.
As the big day approaches, Anya embarks on a journey of understanding and grows to appreciate her new sister. She learns that sometimes love develops slowly, and can be found in the days and moments that unexpectedly capture your heart—as tightly as a little sister can hold.
