About the Author

Dahlia Malaeulu is an award-winning author and publisher of Mila's Books - Pasifika children's books that help tamaiti to be seen, heard and valued. A Samoan New Zealander with connections to the Samoan villages of Vaivase tai and Sinamoga, Dahlia is a passionate educator at heart driven by the power of Pasifika stories and enabling tamaiti to succeed as themselves. Dahlia also regularly presents at educational conferences, visits schools across Aotearoa, was the Pasifika Curator at the Auckland Writer's festival this year, the recipient of the Creative New Zealand Pasifika Emerging Pacific Artist Award (2022), the NZ Emerging Publisher of the Year (2023) and serves on the Te Pou Muramura Read New Zealand board.
