Captain's Fury by Jim Butcher follows Tavi of Calderon, now a captain of his own Legion, who has been engaged in a bitter war for two years. During this tumultuous period, he discovers that the invading Canim warriors are the harbingers of an even greater threat. The Canim are being pursued by a savage race that forced them from their homeland and has now chased them to the Aleran borders.
With options dwindling, Tavi proposes an alliance with the Canim. However, the Senate's new military commander desires only to obliterate the Canim "scourge," and he is willing to kill Aleran slaves who have sought freedom with these aggressors.
Tavi faces the monumental task of reconciling Aleran and Canim, slavemaster and slave, Citizen and Proletarian, in order to forge an alliance. Defying the law, he must also lead his Legion against both friend and foe, standing firm before the greatest army of all launches its assault.
