A Brief History of Indonesia
A Brief History of Indonesia: Sultans, Spices, and Tsunamis: The Incredible Story of the World's Largest Archipelago
Indonesia is by far the largest nation in Southeast Asia and one of the largest countries in the world, ranking fourth in terms of population. Indonesian history and culture are especially relevant today as the island nation emerges as a power in the region under a dynamic new leader.
This fascinating book narrates the story of Indonesia through the experiences of kings, traders, missionaries, soldiers, and revolutionaries. It features tales of stormy sea crossings, fiery volcanoes, and the occasional tiger.
The book also recounts the colourful visits of foreign travellers who have passed through these shores for many centuriesβfrom Chinese Buddhist pilgrims and Dutch adventurers to English sea captains and American movie stars.
