Big Trouble with Angry Chairs
The first hilarious illustrated adventure about Maddie and Clare, two kids whose surroundings keep trying to kill them!
Maddie and Clare live in a quiet, palm tree-lined dead end with their dad and pet chicken, Terrible Chicken. It’s a place where not much happens, except for the odd small incident. Like a mass uprising of angry chairs. And the appearance of a prehistoric mutant fart gas. And an invasion of killer pineapples. But other than that, things are pretty boring in Dead End. You can see why Maddie and Clare have to make their own fun ...
From storytelling mastermind Lachlann Carter and Last Kids on Earth illustrator Douglas Holgate comes this hilarious and action-packed series for readers aged 6 and up! With three madcap adventures in each book and every spread packed with illustrations, this silly-spooky series has enough trouble to keep anyone aged 6-10 years on the edge of their seat. ★ Top Kids' Pick for 2024 the Age/Sydney Morning Herald What's inside Big Trouble with Angry Chairs? This first book introduces our main characters – Clare, Maddie, Terrible Chicken, and Dad, as well as the other residents of Dead End – through three brilliantly funny stories:
- In Don’t Sit on Me, all the chairs of Dead End revolt over being used for the one purpose that they were intended for – being sat on! Can Maddie, Clare, and Terrible Chicken think quickly enough to save Dad and everyone else from being snapped by the angry mob?
- In Bubbles, we see Maddie imagine being trapped in a giant bubble and floating away to become the Supreme Ultimate High Leader of the city of Lost Bubbles.
- And our final story in this first book, Terrible Chicken VS The Whatsit, sees the neighbours of Dead End attending the first Annual Dead End Empty Lot Scary Movie Night. But when Terrible Chicken (who actually thinks she is a dinosaur), is in the sights of the Whatsit, the girls must come up with a plan to save her!
