Becky Nurse of Salem (TCG Edition)
A wry, innovative reckoning with the legacy of the Salem witch trials from one of America's foremost playwrights.
Becky Nurse of Salem (TCG Edition) by Sarah Ruhl introduces us to Becky Nurse, an outspoken, sharp-witted tour guide at the Salem Museum of Witchcraft. Becky is attempting to navigate life in post-Obama America. As a descendant of Rebecca Nurse, who was notoriously executed for witchcraft in 1692, Becky struggles with her family legacyβafter all, times have changed for women since then... haven't they?
Things take a turn when Becky loses her job for criticising The Crucible in front of schoolchildren. In search of a solution, she visits a local witch for assistance. One spell leads to another, and soon everything spirals out of control. This darkly comic play explores a woman's journey in coming to terms with her family's past and finding her own voice amidst the challenging backdrop of our "lock her up" era.
