An uplifting and heartwarming tale, The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune has captured the hearts of readers and soared to the top of bestseller lists, including the New York Times, USA Today, and the Washington Post.

Linus Baker leads a solitary and unremarkable life. At forty, he lives in a tiny house accompanied by a cunning cat and his beloved collection of records. His days are spent working for the Department in Charge of Magical Youth, where he has spent many monotonous years monitoring orphanages.

One fateful day, Linus is unexpectedly summoned by Extremely Upper Management and given a highly classified assignment: he must journey to a remote orphanage that houses six incredibly unique and potentially dangerous children, including a boy who is suspected to be the Antichrist. Linus's mission is to determine whether these extraordinary children pose a threat to the world.

At the orphanage, Linus meets Arthur Parnassus, the enigmatic and compassionate guardian who will go to any lengths to protect his charges. As Linus grows closer to Arthur and the children, he is faced with a difficult choice: will he adhere to his strict sense of duty, or will he embrace his dreams and the possibility of a family he never imagined having?

The House in the Cerulean Sea is a beautifully crafted story that explores themes of love, acceptance, and the profound concept of family in unexpected places. It will enchant readers and leave them with a heart full of warmth and joy.

Heartwarming, kind and kooky

Reminiscent of Good Omens and other Terry Pratchett’s dis world novels, this book blends the humour of admin heavy beaurocracies with a heart warming tale about growing into yourself and realising we’re all a little different in our own ways. Highly recommend for fans of Harry Potter, Good Omens, The Omen, X-men or The Umbrella Academy.
