Engineering Money

Most engineers learn about money the hard way: through experience in the workplace. Written in an approachable style offering young and seasoned engineers an insight into the way engineering businesses run, Engineering Money unites the basic concepts of engineering design, project evaluation techniques, and accounting methods.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

There are many textbooks about engineering design, and some include project evaluation techniques. There are textbooks on accounting methods and others on business management. Engineering Money does not aim to replace these specialized texts but brings together the elements of these subjects that young engineers working in industry β€” particularly the construction industry and its customers β€” need to understand.

Most engineers learn about money the hard way: by experience in the workplace. The authors, having done this themselves, recognised the gap in engineers’ education and set out to bridge it. This book is based on a 1996 course George Solt pioneered for final-year engineering undergraduates. It is written in an approachable style and gives young engineers, as well as mature engineers, insight into the way engineering businesses run, the importance of capital, and the problems of cash flow.

Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?

Engineering Money is praised as an excellent resource for undergraduate courses, particularly those dealing with return on investment for engineering projects. It is recommended for both lower and upper-division undergraduates, with one-liner summaries highlighted as great discussion starters.
