Twenty new titles in the much-loved and hugely successful Penguin English Library series.

All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others

When the downtrodden animals of Manor Farm overthrow their master, Mr Jones, and take over the farm themselves, they imagine it is the beginning of a life of freedom and equality. But gradually, a cunning, ruthless elite among them, masterminded by the pigs Napoleon and Snowball, starts to take control. Soon, the other animals discover that they are not all as equal as they thought and find themselves hopelessly ensnared as one form of tyranny is replaced with another.

Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?

Animal Farm is often lauded for its profound allegorical critique of totalitarianism, depicted through the rise of an oppressive regime led by farm animals. Critics praise Orwell's sharp wit and effective use of satire to embody political themes and human nature. The narrative is described as both disturbing and enlightening, illustrating how power can corrupt and ideals can be manipulated, resonating with readers even decades after its publication.

An author and journalist, Orwell was one of the most prominent and influential figures in twentieth-century literature. His unique political allegory Animal Farm was published in 1945, and it was this novel, together with the dystopia of Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949), which brought him world-wide fame. His novels and non-fiction include Burmese Days, Down and Out in Paris and London, The Road to Wigan Pier and Homage to Catalonia.
