Migration by Steph Matuku follows the story of Farah of Untwa, who joins a school dedicated to training fighters, strategic thinkers, and military personnel. This opportunity allows her to escape her domineering mother and the tedious duties associated with being part of a Ngati in the upper echelons of society.

At the school, Farah, an intuitive, is paired with Lase, a fighter from a lower Ngati. Farah's condescension and unsettling hallucinations, combined with Lase's resentment, initially strain their partnership. However, their relationship begins to improve just as the school is attacked by other-worldly forces.

In the face of this invasion, Farah and Lase must unite and use their skills to combat the alien invaders, endeavouring to save their people from obliteration.
