See moreA moving story of one child's life in the conflict zone of Sri Lanka.
Malini: Through My Eyes is a compelling story of survival and resilience set against the backdrop of northern Sri Lanka's civil war. Malini lives with her parents and younger sister, Banni, as the conflict nears its catastrophic conclusion.
In a desperate move, Tamil Tiger troops herd Malini's family, along with thousands of other Tamil civilians, towards the coast to act as human shields. Amid the chaos, Malini's father thrusts a mobile phone into her hands and urges her to escape into the forest with Banni.
Separated by the ensuing shelling, Malini finds herself without any means to contact her parents. Forced into the role of protector, she decides to travel to her grandfather's village, deep inland. Malini and Banni must avoid the highways and remain vigilant against soldiers from all sides.
Faced with daunting challenges, such as finding food, shelter, and trustworthy allies, Malini wonders if she will ever reunite with her parents. This is the uplifting tale of a girl's odyssey through war-torn Sri Lanka, a testament to courage amidst adversity.
