The author of The Night Flower returns with a second picture book - a stunning depiction of the effects of pollution as seen through the eyes of an ancient fish.
Alba the Hundred Year Old Fish tells the story of Alba, a fish who has spent her entire life collecting precious objects that drift down to the ocean floor. From delicate shells to brightly coloured coral, each year on her birthday, she gathers one more precious item.
However, over the years, Alba notices that her collection is losing its sparkle and that the world is changing. What are these bits of plastic and metal? As the coral reef fades, Alba makes the brave decision to leave her home behind.
Can an old fish teach the world how to bring colour back to the ocean? Alba the Hundred Year Old Fish gently highlights the issue of pollution through its beautifully illustrated pages.
This picture book is a delightful creation from the exciting new talent Lara Hawthorne.

Alba the Hundred Year Old Fish by Lara Hawthorne is a beautifully illustrated children's book that delivers a clear ecological message entwined with a heartwarming story about Alba, a centenarian fish. As Alba's lifelong passion for collecting ocean treasures dims with the creeping pollution of plastics, she embarks on a mission to restore her vibrant home. Enticing illustrations and a touching narrative teach children about the impact of marine pollution and showcase the power of community action to revive ocean habitats. The book deftly balances its strong environmental message with storytelling, encouraging empathy and offering hope for a cleaner future.
