You can't find where you truly belong until you discover who you really are...

The Long Road Home by Fiona McCallum follows Alice Hamilton as she savours her new life in Ballarat, enjoying the freedom to explore her future after leaving behind the constraints of her upbringing. Having learnt the hard way that knowledge is power, Alice eagerly anticipates her legal studies and aspires to make a difference as a lawyer with heart.

Meanwhile, back in Hope Springs, her former husband Rick Peterson's world is unravelling. Following a chance meeting a few months earlier, Rick and Alice have reconnected. This reconnection proves timely, as Rick desperately needs Alice's friendship more than ever.

Rick has always felt a disconnect: as a farmer, he's never truly felt the deep connection to the land that one would expect of the only son and third-generation farmer. Now, he's suddenly faced with understanding why his heart isn't in farming and unravelling the secrets behind his strained relationships. Has his entire life been a lie? If so, where did that lie begin?

From Australia's master storyteller comes an inspiring narrative about how, when life falls apart, help can often be found in the most unexpected places.
