Presents diverse, crowdsourced visions of unconventional fictional fashion systems, and explores the unexpected themes that arise within them.
Presents diverse, crowdsourced visions of unconventional fictional fashion systems, and explores the unexpected themes that arise within them.
If you could imagine an entirely new fashion system, what would you dream up?
An open access book, Fashion Fictions: Imagining Sustainable Worlds presents a kaleidoscope of crowdsourced responses to this open-ended prompt, exploring the common themes and issues that arose in the myriad of ideas received.
Bridging the gap between fiction and reality, this imaginative and original project brings something entirely new to the study of fashion and sustainability. Each world differs immensely β in one, the fashion conscious use foliage to dress up for a night out while, in another, commercial trade in clothing is as unthinkable as trade in human organs. These fascinating imaginings are fleshed out and brought to life by each chapter.
A source of inspiration for designers, researchers, activists and students alike, Fashion Fictions encourages its readers to reimagine the world around them and reveals what people are really yearning for in their experience of fashion.
