The Perilous Performance at Milkweed Meadow
The Perilous Performance at Milkweed Meadow by Elaine Dimopoulos, illustrated by Caldecott winner Doug Salati, is a delightful middle-grade adventure sequel that will captivate animal-loving fans of The Tale of Despereaux and Clarice the Brave.
Now available in paperback, this captivating tale is perfect for 8-11-year-olds who are interested in themes of bravery, friendship, community, and trust. It's also an excellent choice for reading aloud.
In this story, Butternut and the meadow creatures are back after their remarkable rescueβnow closer than ever. Butternut, the beloved rabbit, continues to enchant them all with her storytelling.
However, when a dazzling group of travelling turkeys arrives, they persuade the meadow creatures to join them in putting on a performance. Butternut feels uncertain about her place amid all the excitement and questions her storytelling abilities compared to this mesmerising new crew.
As it turns out, the turkeysβand the grand showβare not what they seem, placing Butternut's family and friends in imminent danger. Butternut must learn to trust herself and find the courage to seek help, ultimately hoping that friendship will triumph once more.
Beautiful and striking black-and-white illustrations bring the animals to life in this gripping and heartwarming story about trustβtrusting our instincts, our creative talents, and those who know and love us, even when it's difficult.
"Treasured classics designed to be read aloud and shared."
