She is travelling to a mysterious meeting with an even more mysterious man. Known only to her through a brief email exchange, Petros has contacted her out of the blue, asking for a tour of Istanbulβs Byzantine churches. Melike, intrigued, agrees to help.
The place they arrange to meet, the Church of Saint Mary of Mongols, holds tender memories for Melike, located right across from where her long-dead grandmother lies. But what Melike at first assumes is a coincidence soon gives way to something much greater.

About the Author
Defne Suman was born in Istanbul and grew up on Buyukada. She gained a Masters in sociology from the Bosphorus University, then worked as a teacher in Thailand and Laos where she studied Far Eastern philosophy and mystic disciplines. She later continued her studies in Oregon, USA and now lives in Athens with her husband. Her English language debut The Silence of Scheherazade was published by Head of Zeus in 2021.
