Description
Children of Dune, the third instalment in Frank Herbert's epic science fiction series, continues the saga of the desert planet Arrakis and the powerful Atreides family. Following the events of Dune Messiah, the world of Arrakis has been transformed into a lush, green landscape under the rule of Paul Atreides. However, the alteration brings unforeseen challenges that threaten the planet's delicate ecological balance and the survival of its native giant sandworms, essential for the production of the spice Melange, the universe's most valuable substance.
Paul Atreides has disappeared, leaving his legacy in the hands of his twin children, Leto and Ghanima. About the Author
Frank Herbert (1920-86) was born in Tacoma, Washington and worked as a reporter and later editor of a number of West Coast newspapers before becoming a full-time writer. His first sf story was published in 1952 but he achieved fame more than ten years later with the publication in Analog of DUNE WORLD and THE PROPHET OF DUNE, amalgamated in the novel DUNE in 1965.
