BSAVA Manual of Feline Practice
This new addition to the BSAVA Foundation Manual series serves to provide an easily accessible source of practical advice on the management of common feline problems encountered in first-opinion practice.
BSAVA Manual of Feline Practice is a valuable addition to the BSAVA Foundation Manual series, offering an easily accessible source of practical advice on managing common feline problems encountered in first-opinion practice.
This manual begins with an introduction to crucial general issues in effective feline practice, including handling techniques, examination principles, and ensuring a cat-friendly practice environment. Gold-standard preventive healthcare guidelines are presented, focusing on a life-stage approach, with discussions on therapeutics such as antibiotic use, analgesia, and anaesthesia.
The main section of the manual comprises problem-oriented chapters, focusing on the investigation and initial management of emergencies and common presentations like alopecia, polydipsia, and seizures. A subsequent systems-based section provides more detailed management strategies for disorders commonly seen in general practice.
The manual supplies sufficient information for veterinary professionals to manage common feline problems effectively. It also provides guidance on seeking further information and advice on when to consider referral or how to approach cases with financial limitations.
A unique feature of this manual is the inclusion of many Quick Reference Guides (QRGs). These present practical techniques and treatments as easy-to-follow, step-by-step guides, complete with clear colour photographs illustrating each step when possible.
The international panel of authors was carefully selected for their practical expertise and passion for different areas of feline practice. The practical, easy-to-follow advice makes this manual essential reading for new graduates and first-opinion vets who handle feline cases, as well as veterinary students and nurses globally.
