'Feverish, hungry, astonishing' New York Times

'One of the greatest imaginative achievements of English culture' Guardian

Amid a raging snowstorm, Mr. Lockwood seeks shelter at Wuthering Heights, a house high on the barren Yorkshire moors. It's not long before the house's secrets reveal themselves: carved into the windowsill, the names Cathy and Heathcliff lead Lockwood to discover the intense, obsessive relationship that unfolded years before; the devastating betrayal; and a revenge that continues to haunt their descendants.

Shocking critics upon publication, Emily Brontë's wild, defiant tale of love and vengeance remains one of the most provocative, inventive works of literature today.

'Will there ever be a novel that burns with more passionate intensity?' Independent
