Richly illustrated with archival material, contemporary photography and personal reflections, this beautifully produced hardback traces the story of the organisation from its rural beginnings in 1921 to its nationwide presence today. It captures the spirit of the Federation and the vital role its members have played in supporting families, strengthening communities and contributing to New Zealand life over generations.

About the Author
ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
The New Zealand Federation of Women’s Institutes was founded in 1921 to bring women together to share knowledge, build skills, and strengthen community life. Originally established in rural areas, the organisation created opportunities for connection, education, and support at a time when many women were isolated.
Over the past century, the Federation has grown into a nationwide network, welcoming women from all walks of life. Through local institutes, members have fostered friendships, developed practical and creative skills, contributed to community initiatives, and supported causes both locally and nationally.
With a long-standing commitment to service, learning, and connection, the Federation continues to play an important role in enriching the lives of women and strengthening communities across Aotearoa New Zealand.
