When Oskar feels sad and wants to be alone his best friend Aya helps remind him of things he loved.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Aya and Oskar love to go on big adventures, build amazing creations, and make up stories together. But when Oskar gets sad, his feelings grow so big he doesn’t want to play. And that leaves Aya feeling hurt and confused. How can she help when she doesn’t know what Oskar needs?

With candour and compassion, this heartfelt story shows that big feelings are a normal part of life—something to be felt rather than fixed—and models how to be an ally when someone you love is hurting.

When a Friend Needs a Friend portrays these themes beautifully, making it a must-read for all.

Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?

When a Friend Needs a Friend beautifully conveys the importance of emotional support through moving mixed-media illustrations that reflect a child's perspective. The book effectively sparks conversations about managing emotions, demonstrating how friends can support each other during tough times. The friendship between Aya and Oskar captures an authentic duality of feeling both powerful and powerless, resonating strongly with both children and adults.
