Description

Kids will love this fun New Zealand retelling of the classic adventure, which hides a moa in every illustration. Kids will love this fun New Zealand retelling of the classic adventure, which hides a moa in every illustration. We're going on a moa hunt. We're not scared. We're going to catch a BIG one. We're NOT scared! Uh-oh . . . a tangly forest! CRACK, CREAK, SNAP! Join in the search! But you'll need to keep your eyes open . . . could it be that a moa is hunting YOU? We're Going on a Moa Hunt is a fabulous New Zealand adventure that takes readers on an exciting journey through the country's spectacular landscapes. Award-winning Patrick McDonald's pictures teem with native plants and wildlife, and sharp-eyed kids will love discovering the moa cleverly hidden in every scene of the hunt. '''Uh-oh'', this Kiwi retelling of the classic children's tale is likely to prove as popular as the original! In this version, three children venture out in search of the eponymous moa ''swishing and rustling'' across a wide paddock, scalding their feet on ''scorching sizzling sand'', slurping their way through a ''sucky mucky swamp'' and so on. Vivid illustrations of a variety of New Zealand landscapes, flora and fauna are sure to keep another generation enthralled.' Helen Speirs, Otago Daily Times

About the Author

Patrick McDonald (Author, Illustrator) Patrick McDonald can't remember a time when he hasn't been interested in drawing or some aspect of design. He has always held a strong interest in narrative illustration and so it's no surprise that he has been earning a living illustrating for children ever since he graduated from Massey University of Wellington's School of Design. In 2013 he won the Storylines Gavin Bishop Award for Illustration, which led to the publication of his first children's picture book, A Perfect Chirpy Christmas by Kyle Mewburn. We're Going on a Moa Hunt (Puffin, 2015) is his second picture book. Patrick lives in Petone, Wellington.
