THE INSTANT NO. 1 SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

Want makes for addictive reading . . . compelling’ Guardian

'I just loved reading it. It’s exceptional' Fearne Cotton, Happy Place

Want by Gillian Anderson is a captivating exploration into the deepest, often unspoken, corners of female desire. It invites readers into a discreetly intimate world where women's sexual fantasies are revealed in their rawest forms, free from the constraints of societal expectations. The book provides an incredibly intimate look at sex, exploring themes that many find difficult to discuss openly, yet are universally experienced. It delves into every dimension of womanhood and sexuality, tackling complex topics such as motherhood, infidelity, and consent with both boldness and sensitivity.

In this groundbreaking collection, Anderson not only curates anonymous fantasies from women around the globe but also contributes one of her own, weaving a tapestry of eroticism that strips away pretence and exposes pure, unfiltered longing. These narratives span a broad spectrum of experiences—some women fantasise about gentle and tender encounters, while others dream of passionate and playful liaisons or scenarios involving multiple partners. Some submissions come from women who have never experienced sexual pleasure, and others from those for whom sexual experiences are varied and numerous.

Each fantasy offers a unique window into the internal lives of women, touching upon feelings of desire, fear, intimacy, shame, satisfaction, and ultimately, liberation. The candid submissions reveal a fascinating dichotomy: the profound commonality and individual uniqueness of sexual desire. This collection unearths a raw honesty that is both compelling and liberating, making readers reflect on their own desires with newfound understanding.

Want reveals how women feel about sex when they have the freedom to be utterly themselves, unbound by judgment. It is more than a book about sex; it is a declaration of female freedom and an insightful discourse on what it means to want, to desire, and to be human.
