Transit
New paperback edition of the novel from the dazzlingly talented author of the Baileys-shortlisted Outline.
The second book in Rachel Cusk's critically-acclaimed trilogy, shortlisted for the Goldsmith Prize.
In the wake of family collapse, a writer and her two young sons move to London. The process of upheaval is the catalyst for a number of transitions — personal, moral, artistic, practical — as she endeavours to construct a new reality for herself and her children.
Filtered through the impersonal gaze of its keenly intelligent protagonist, Transit sees Rachel Cusk delve deeper into the themes first raised in her critically acclaimed Outline. The novel offers up a penetrating and moving reflection on childhood and fate, the value of suffering, the moral problems of personal responsibility, and the mystery of change.
Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?
Transit by Rachel Cusk is frequently praised for its insightful exploration of the protagonist's navigation through personal and professional shifts following a divorce. The novel is a continuation of Cusk's sharp, observational style, focusing on themes of change, identity, and human connection. Critics often commend its eloquent prose and the way it subtly reveals the intricacies of ordinary life.
