I really enjoyed this one. It throws you straight into a world that’s already gone to hell, with angels, daemons, curfews, and a version of humanity that’s just trying to survive whatever’s left.

Amara was a really easy FMC to get behind. She’s capable, sharp, and has just enough reckless energy to keep things moving without making me want to shake her. The story kicks off when her boyfriend disappears after curfew, and from there it turns into a survival-driven spiral of bad decisions, dangerous alliances, and trying to stay alive in a world that clearly does not care whether you do.

“I shouldn’t be surprised that of all people, you would get yourself into this situation. That being said, of all people, you’re probably the one with the highest likelihood of survival. In fact, your most likely cause of death is pissing someone off by being a smart-ass.”

I really liked the dystopian feel of this. The whole setup has that bleak, dangerous atmosphere where the rules are strict, the stakes are high, and nobody is coming to save anyone.

The worldbuilding is fairly light, and I definitely would have loved to see more of the world outside Amara’s immediate situation, especially with the angels and daemons and how everything got to this point.

“That’s what makes humans strong. We can’t waste a single second, because life is short and any day can be our last.”

Some of the plot twists were a bit easy to spot early on, but I still had a really good time with the story and there were enough moving pieces to keep me invested in where it was heading.

What worked best for me was Amara herself, the darker atmosphere, and the constant sense that she’s one bad decision away from making everything worse.

“Even if we do find Jeremy, he doesn’t know this version of me. I’m not who he fell in love with any more.”

Overall, this was a really enjoyable read with strong dystopian fantasy vibes, a likeable FMC, and enough danger and tension to keep me hooked the whole way through.
