This sensitively written guide will help children to understand more about what autism is
This book is for children wanting to find out more about autism.
Having autism is a 'way of being' which influences thinking, feeling, and reactions to people and situations. It is a lifelong condition which affects both girls and boys. A lot of people with autism say they struggle with communication skills and find interacting with the world very confusing and difficult. Being autistic is made up of lots of different aspectsβsome will feel like strengths, and some will feel difficult and hard to live with. These will be explored throughout the book.
Content covered includes: what is autism?, anxiety, plans and changes, senses, routines and repetitive behaviour, sensory overload, friendships, teachers and school, masking, dream worlds and escaping, talents, and interests.
