Tolkien is a timeless fantasy novel that serves as a prelude to the epic The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Set in Middle-earth, it follows the extraordinary journey of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who prefers the comforts of home to the excitement of adventure. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when the wizard Gandalf and a group of thirteen dwarves recruit him for a daring mission.
Bilbo reluctantly joins the group on their quest to reclaim the lost Kingdom of Erebor from Smaug the Magnificent, a fearsome dragon who has hoarded the dwarves' treasure. Along the way, Bilbo encounters trolls, goblins, elves, and giant spiders, all while discovering strengths and courage he never knew he possessed. As the journey progresses, he stumbles upon a magical ring that grants invisibility, an item that becomes pivotal in his adventures and beyond.
The rich narrative architecture of The Hobbit is filled with enchanting landscapes and a plethora of unforgettable characters. From the quaint and peaceful Shire, through treacherous forests like Mirkwood, to the Lonely Mountain, Tolkien's world-building is unparalleled, drawing readers into a mythology that is as compelling as it is immersive.
This edition has been meticulously corrected and revised in collaboration with Christopher Tolkien, ensuring that the text remains true to the author's vision.
