The Glass Lake is set in the small Irish town of Lough Glass, where everyone knows everyone; children who walk to school together grow up and become sweethearts and marry. It is a place where people gossip, grumble, and dream their lives away, and where change comes slowly.

However, the tranquility is shattered when one day, the beautiful and mysterious Helen McMahon disappears, presumed drowned in the lake. This event sets the town abuzz with wild gossip and speculation.

The consequences of Helen's disappearance are unimaginable, deeply affecting her husband and son. However, it is her daughter, Kit McMahon, who feels the impact most profoundly. The ripple effects of this tragedy leave none of their lives unchanged.
