Steam Rally by Robin Grierson is a captivating photography book published by Lost Press, featuring an introduction by the esteemed journalist and author, Ian Jack. These images document the engine men, their restored traction engines, and the vibrant steam heritage scene, which attracts thousands to its events across the country every summer.

Having grown up around his father's bus garage in County Durham and spending much of his formative years tinkering with engines, Grierson found himself instinctively drawn to the steam enthusiasts and their cherished vintage machines. This collection of thoughtfully composed images includes respectful portraits, close-up details of people and their machines, and broader views of steam rallies in their rural settings. Grierson pays particular attention to the work-worn textures, stained surfaces, and subtle colours of the working steam environment.

Author: Robin Grierson's photographs have been featured in some of the world's most prestigious publications, including Vogue, The Observer, The Sunday Telegraph, and The Guardian, among others. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Art Sao Paulo, The Photographers' Gallery in London, Angela Flowers Gallery, and the Gallery of Photography Dublin. His work is part of collections at the V&A Museum, The National Museum of Photography, and the Arts Council of Great Britain.
