Sebastião Salgado. Amazônia showcases the unparalleled beauty of the Brazilian Amazon through the lens of Sebastião Salgado, accumulated over six years. This extraordinary region—encompassing the forest, rivers, mountains, and its indigenous inhabitants—stands as an irreplaceable treasure of humanity.

In the book's foreword, Salgado states: "For me, it is the last frontier, a mysterious universe of its own, where the immense power of nature can be felt as nowhere else on earth. Here is a forest stretching to infinity that contains one-tenth of all living plant and animal species, the world's largest single natural laboratory."

Salgado visited a dozen indigenous tribes living in the world's largest tropical rainforest. His documentation captures the daily life of the Yanomami, the Asháninka, the Yawanawá, the Suruwahá, the Zo'é, the Kuikuro, the Waurá, the Kamayurá, the Korubo, the Marubo, the Awá, and the Macuxi. He focuses on their warm family bonds, hunting and fishing practices, meal preparation and sharing, their remarkable talent for face and body painting, and the significance of their shamans, dances, and rituals.

Sebastião Salgado dedicates this book to the indigenous peoples of Brazil's Amazon region, expressing his hope that "in 50 years' time this book will not resemble a record of a lost world. Amazônia must live on."
