This book compiles the RCR Arquitectes own unique cosmogony: a vision of humans, of nature and life in general that transcends mere architecture.
This book compiles the RCR Arquitectes' own unique cosmogony: a vision of humans, nature, and life in general that transcends mere architecture.
Nature and history form the physical place chosen by RCR Arquitectes to develop a space where they can conceive, experiment, and rethink man's relationship with the world. This physical space is located in La Vila, in the Bianya Valley (Catalonia), surrounded by woods, water, farmland, country houses, and more. It is a creative and experimental project, one that is constantly evolving.
Technological advances and innovation are applied on an experiential basis within this landscape. New realities are generated, such as the humanitacle, a project about the synthesis of man and the built habitat in relation to the surroundings, nature, and technology, and la dona i l 'home nu vol (cloud woman and cloud man), creative beings par excellence and creators of reality.
This book introduces this utopia under construction. Ramon Vilalta, Rafael Aranda, and Carmen Pigem are the 2017 winners of The Pritzker Architecture Prize.
RCR. Dream and Nature is available in a multi-lingual edition in English, Spanish, and Catalan.

John Hill of A Daily Dose of Architecture highlights essays from noted architects and curators, including Glenn Murcutt and William J. R. Curtis. He praises the exploration of RCR's cosmology as a "flowing, creative, dynamic and living process," and notes the book's rich visual presentation, especially the "visual episodes" that capture the ethereal atmosphere of the Biennale.
