Discover the magic of patterns and the power of fixing things in this heartwarming children's book. Written and illustrated by New York Times bestselling illustrator Lauren Semmer, this book shows that each pattern is unique, but together they can be magical—just like families!

Poppy's Family Patterns introduces readers to Poppy, who feels sad when her toy bunny's dress rips. She thinks she will have to throw it away, but her mum has another idea. Her mum shows Poppy a trunk in her sewing room, brimming with fabric scraps—dots, stripes, checkers, and chevrons. Each scrap holds its own story. Fabrics from Granddad's tie, Nana's dress, and her auntie's scarf, brought together with Mum's sewing machine, create something special—just like their family!

New York Times bestselling illustrator Lauren Semmer weaves an introduction to patterns in this endearing story of family history and traditions.

About the Author

Lauren Semmer is a bestselling children's book illustrator who grew up in a community of Black, home-textile artists. When she isn't making picture books, like The ABC's of Black History, written by Rio Cortez, and To Boldly Go- How Nichelle Nichols and Star Trek Helped Advance Civil Rights, written by Angela Dalton, she collects fabric scraps and dreams of having her own fabric line. Like Poppy, she's not afraid to wear ALL the patterns at the same time. This is her authorial debut.
