Pin-Up: Good Girls and Bad Girls

Book Hero Magic crafted this summary to help describe this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Summary
Pin-Up: Good Girls and Bad Girls by Maly Siri explores the dual personas of glamour from the 1930s to the 1950s. It contrasts the innocent charm of the Good Girls—those delicate, idealised figures—with the seductive allure of the Bad Girls—the daring, enigmatic women who wield their charm knowingly. Through lavish visuals and stylish iconography, this book celebrates the rich and captivating culture of vintage pin-up art.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Maly Siri's Pin-Up: Good Girls and Bad Girls raises two themes: On one side, the Good Girls — the damsels with soft skin powdering their faces in front of the mirror, the Tahitian girls with enchanting smiles. And on the other side, the Bad Girls — the rouged vamps with sensuous looks, the spies, the melancholic blues singers, and other misfits.

The fact that they are aware of their charms makes them even more dangerous. This book is a rich and delicious homage inspired by the iconography of the 1930s to '50s — a celebration of pure glamour.

About the Author

Maly Siri is a painter and an illustrator. She was born in France in 1985. After graduating from the Émile Cohl School of Lyon in 2006, she published comics and illustrations for Akileos, Dupuis, Le Lombard (French publishing houses).

Touched by aesthetics and elegance of a universe that has been polished by the patina of time, Maly found herself in a pictorial genre in harmony with her tastes and passions: the pin-up girl.

In 2009, she moved in Montreal, where her international "pin-up artist" career took off: as requested by the British high fashion house Vivienne Westwood, she designs, in 2010, the muse of perfume Naughty Alice.

Then the brand Playboy offers her to give life to two new muses for Play It Pin-up and perfume Play It Sexy, respectively in 2013 and 2014. In this book, she pays tribute to two of her models: Bettie Page and Dita Von Teese
