Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! DescriptionPhantom, the gripping ninth instalment in Jo Nesbø's renowned Harry Hole series, takes readers on a harrowing journey through the dark underbelly of Oslo. This novel exemplifies Nesbø’s mastery in creating taut, edge-of-your-seat thrillers that keep readers enthralled until the very last page.
Harry Hole, the seasoned and tormented detective, finds himself in trouble once more. After barely surviving his last horrific case, Harry had left Oslo and the police force behind in search of solace. But now he has returned, driven by the need to investigate a case that, on the surface, seems to be solved. The suspect is already behind bars and the official investigation has been closed. Yet Harry's instincts tell him there is more to the story.
As Harry delves deeper, he encounters resistance at every corner. The police, wary of the chaos that often follows him, are reluctant to reopen a case they consider solved. Undeterred, Harry sets off on his own, following a murky trail of violence and inexplicable disappearances that have mysteriously escaped the attention of the authorities. The deeper he digs, the more he is met with a daunting silence—a silence that conceals the terrifying truth lying beneath the surface.
But Harry is not alone in his pursuit. From the moment he lands in Oslo, he is under surveillance. An unknown entity, lurking in the shadows, is intent on keeping him from uncovering the truth. Slowly, it becomes clear that Harry is being hunted by someone who will stop at nothing to silence him.
Expertly plotted and structured, Phantom is relentlessly paced and undoubtedly a compulsive page-turner, as noted by Independent on Sunday. Jo Nesbø’s intricate storytelling weaves together a narrative that is both enthralling and chilling, keeping readers on their toes with unexpected twists and turns.

About the Author
Jo Nesbo is one of the world's bestselling crime writers, with The Leopard, Phantom, Police, The Son, The Thirst, Macbeth and Knife all topping the Sunday Times bestseller charts. He's an international number one bestseller and his books are published in 50 languages, selling over 50 million copies around the world.
Before becoming a crime writer, Nesbo played football for Norway's premier league team Molde, but his dream of playing professionally for Spurs was dashed when he tore ligaments in his knee at the age of eighteen. After three years military service he attended business school and formed the band Di Derre ('Them There'). They topped the charts in Norway, but Nesbo continued working as a financial analyst, crunching numbers during the day and gigging at night. When commissioned by a publisher to write a memoir about life on the road with his band, he instead came up with the plot for his first Harry Hole crime novel, The Bat.
