Oxford Botanic Garden has occupied its central Oxford site next to the River Cherwell continuously since its foundation in 1621 and is the UK's oldest botanic garden. The birthplace of botanical science in the UK, it has been a leading centre for research since the 1600s.
Today, the garden holds a collection of over 5,000 different types of plants, some of which exist nowhere else and are of international conservation importance.
