The story of Robin Hood is universally known, but no one really knows who was the legendary enemy of the Sheriff of Nottingham. What if brigand and sheriff were one and the same? The first volume of a new take on the myth.

In the year 1192, Richard, King of England, has not yet returned from the Crusades. Rumours abound that he might be dead, as his brother John Lackland begins to manoeuvre to claim the throne. John's ambition is bolstered by the support—and finances—of the kingdom's sheriffs.

Deep within Sherwood Forest, Marian, a young Saxon lady, is determined to persuade a family of outlaws to join her in challenging the prince. She is aided by a mysterious man clad in a hood, who is none other than the Sheriff of Nottingham himself!

Nottingham Vol. 1: The King's Ransom weaves a tale of intrigue and rebellion in a time of uncertainty and unrest.
