Photographer Mick Rock reveals his definitive collection of images, telling the story in his own words of his early career and the larger-than-life characters with whom he mixed.
Mick Rock Exposed presents Mick Rock as the foremost rock photographer of his generation. In this collection, Mick reveals his definitive images, sharing the story of his early career and the larger-than-life characters he encountered. This work serves as both a retrospective of his photography and a cultural journey through a time dominated by rock music.
This compendium is filled with experiences, eyewitness accounts, and intimate details, culminating in candid visual insights and iconic imagery recognised today. It offers a vivid and memorable account of Rock's adventures behind the camera, blending the overt with the intimate, the beautiful with the irreverent โ truly exposed.
Mick Rock's illustrious career began with photographing an almost unknown David Bowie in 1972. An instant rapport led him to document the rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust, capturing thousands of photographs, posters, album artwork and several videos. His reputation as "the man who shot the Seventies" was cemented with iconic images of Lou Reed, Syd Barrett, Iggy Pop, Queen, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, and Blondie.
More recently, Mick has captured with his camera the likes of Kate Moss, Michael Stipe, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Chemical Brothers, Razorlight, The Killers, and The Libertines. His work is displayed in the National Portrait Gallery, London.
