New insights into an extraordinary collection

The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark, is one of the most popular museums in Europe. It owns an outstanding collection of 20th- and 21st-century art. Forty-five of these top works by about thirty artists—paintings, prints, drawings, and photography—are on display at the Museum Franz Gertsch in Switzerland from autumn 2024.

The selection focuses on works and art movements that can be linked to the life and work of the Swiss painter and graphic artist Franz Gertsch (1930–2022). These include international Pop Art and the American trends of Colour Field and Hard-Edge Painting. In addition, individual works of contemporary and Scandinavian art from the Louisiana collection extend the dialogue between the museums and artistic generations into the present.

Louisiana Visits Franz Gertsch offers an intriguing look at these intersections of art and artists. It's a must-see display for anyone interested in exploring connections within modern and contemporary art.
