Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Diodorus Siculus, a Greek historian from Agyrium in Sicily, ca. 80–20 BCE, authored forty books of world history, titled Library of History, in three parts: mythical history of peoples, non-Greek and Greek, up to the Trojan War; history leading to Alexander's death (323 BCE); and history up to 54 BCE.

Of this extensive work, we have complete Books I–V (focusing on Egyptians, Assyrians, Ethiopians, Greeks) and Books XI–XX (covering Greek history from 480–302 BCE), along with fragments of the remaining volumes. Though Diodorus was an uncritical compiler, he utilised excellent sources and reproduced them faithfully, making his work invaluable for details unrecorded elsewhere. His writings also serve as crucial evidence for works now lost, especially those by Ephorus, Apollodorus, Agatharchides, Philistus, and Timaeus.

The Loeb Classical Library edition of Diodorus Siculus is available in twelve volumes.
