Journey to the Center of the Earth
Renowned geologist Professor Liedenbrock sets out on a fantastic adventure through time and place with his 16-year-old nephew: from Iceland's frozen tundra far down into underground prehistoric worlds and back up again through the fires of an erupting volcano, they experience one of the most incredible journeys ever imagined.
Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne invites readers to explore a prehistoric world at the Earth's core in this science fiction classic.
When Axel's uncle, Professor Liedenbrock, discovers a coded journal detailing a path to the Earth's centre, Axel hopes the professor will never decipher it. His concern stems from knowing that once his uncle sets his mind on something, he insists on pursuing it regardless of the danger or difficulty involved. However, when Axel himself decodes the journal, curiosity gets the better of him. Soon, he finds himself accompanying his uncle to Iceland in search of this hidden route to uncharted territories.
Joined by a local guide, Hans, the group descends into a volcano. Axel initially believes they will discover nothing noteworthy and face almost certain death. Yet, the reality that awaits them is far more incredible than any of the travellers could have anticipated.
