Jayden Noticed by Carolyn Crimi is a touching story of a child who, with the help of a special rock, learns to embrace change and discovers the joy of making a like-minded friend. This narrative celebrates our most thoughtful little observers.
Jayden notices everything. He observes the way the moon looks different every night as it peeks through the oak tree. He notices spiderweb wheels and egg freckles, mouse paws and rose petals. Yet, what Jayden notices most are rocks.
For every occasion, Jayden collects a rock: a homework rock, a Saturday rock, even enough wishing rocks to fill up a jar. However, now that he and his family have moved to a different house, where the trees are too short, the colour is off, and the mailbox is in the wrong place, he wonders if he will find a rock to grant him courage. Will it help him make a new friend, perhaps another noticer like himself?
In this tender story meant for curious and observant little readers, Carolyn Crimi’s text beautifully complements Shamar Knight-Justice’s expressive illustrations. The tale offers comfort amid life's many changes.
