Churchill Plays: 2 includes four groundbreaking plays by Caryl Churchill, each offering a unique and compelling theatrical experience.
Softcops transforms the philosophy of Foucault into a music-hall performance and Victorian freakshow. As noted by the Times Literary Supplement, "theatre and history combine to give such intelligent fun."
Top Girls gathers five remarkable and not-so-remarkable women from history for a dinner party. The Sunday Times describes it as having "a combination of directness and complexity which keeps you both emotionally and intellectually alert."
Fen examines the lives of low-paid women potato pickers in the fens of Eastern England. According to the Financial Times, "the playwright pins down her poetic subject matter in dialogue of impressive vigour and economy."
Serious Money is a satirical exploration of the effects of the Big Bang. The Daily Telegraph hails it as "pure genius... the first play about the city to capture the authentic atmosphere of the place."
