Caroline the Caribou travels across Canada with her family and a large caribou herd and ultimately ends up leading a group of caribou into the famous Calgary Stampede at the opening ceremony.

Along the way, we learn how caribou, also called reindeer, use all five senses as they migrate. Caroline aspires to be brave like the famous Rudolph. She learns that she must have courage to visit the dentist, orthodontist, and an eye doctor. She also demonstrates courage by saving other caribou from an old animal trap and is finally rewarded by leading the herd into the Calgary Stampede.

The book also provides interesting "Fun Facts" in the index along with a map of Canada for further educational benefits.
