Renowned Swedish chess author and chess master Thomas Engqvist plays through the best and most famous games of his chess idol, Jose Raul Capablanca (1888-1942). Capablanca is widely recognised as one of the greatest chess players of all time, whose reign as unbeaten World Champion from 1916 to 1924 is seen as a vital turning point between the old-fashioned Classical School of chess and the 'Hypermodern' period, which is still influential to this day.
With thirteen chapters that delve into some of Capablanca's more famous and influential games, Capablanca: The Chess Machine contains many illustrative chess boards so you can play through the games yourself, move by move, accompanied by Engqvist's insightful commentary. It also includes a selection of photos of Capablanca throughout his career, offering a more visual insight into his life.
