Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

The artist Cao Fei (born 1978) resides in Beijing. In her work, she utilises the latest digital media. Her projects exist at the intersection of reality and fiction, reflecting the societal and urban conditions in China. The videos, photographs, drawings, and multimedia installations demonstrate her entire artistic oeuvre.

In her works, which span the aesthetics of documentary, film, and virtual reality, Cao Fei examines the reality of life in China and its constant fundamental changes. She also draws inspiration from her personal environment in Beijing. As an artist, she addresses universally valid questions: Where is the development in big cities leading? What is my place within urban society? Am I a critical observer of gentrification processes, while simultaneously being part of the problem?
