The elements of Astrid Lowack's (born 1969) photographic-artistic transcendence are light, movement, and water. As the driving forces of life, they relentlessly bring about change and reflect our innermost being—our feelings and experiences. Her snapshots remain constant imaginative challenges to human perception.
Astrid Lowack's photographs are experimental mirrors of the emotional world. They visualise consciousness and unconsciousness, abysses and metamorphoses. Our fears and apocalyptic chaos appear from a new perspective, as does paradisiacal equilibrium. The artist explores unknown ways of thinking and worlds of feeling, immersing herself through her photographic works in the individual experiences of humankind.
