The New Carlsberg Glyptotek was established by brewer Carl Jacobsen in 1897, as a venue where the Danes could enjoy his ever-expanding collection of contemporary art. The world-famous Danish museum includes antique sculptures from ancient cultures around the Mediterranean as well as more modern sculptures, and an extensive collection of French Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, along with Danish Golden Age paintings.
