The official illustrated celebration of Phantom of the Opera, published to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the production, with contributions from cast past and present, led by Andrew Lloyd Webber and featuring never-before-seen material.

A vibrant, official celebration of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic multi-award winning musical, exploring its rich history, with letters from its cast, crew, and global fanbase, and featuring exclusive photos and archival materials.

Since its opening night in 1986, Phantom of the Opera has become not only one of the longest-running musicals but one of the most globally renowned productions of all time. This celebration of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera features exclusive stories from the cast and crew, unearthed archival documents, and brand new never-before-seen photography, with an in-depth look at how the story came to be and the expansive future it holds.

From the Phantom's labyrinthine underworld to Christine's lamplit dressing room to the dreamlike grandeur of the Opera House rooftop at twilight, the evocative power of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera has always extended far beyond its intimate theatrical setting.

Starting with the show's creation (including the writing process, set design, and costume), Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera takes a deep dive into the show's storied characters; then explores the show's global fanbase, including popular international tours in over 58 countries and a smash-hit movie in 2004; and celebrates the exciting and innovative ways in which the world of Phantom continues to expand, with a look at what's to come in the future.

Visually rich and packed with enchanting and fascinating storytelling, this book will delight Phantom fans, both new and old.

Andrew Lloyd Webber (Foreword By) LW Entertainment is an entertainment company with musical theatre at its heart. Founded in 1977 as the Really Useful Group, the company manages Andrew Lloyd Webber's body of work all over the world and has shared his work with hundreds of millions of people. Today, LW Entertainment builds on that legacy through creative collaboration and thoughtful brand development, ensuring these iconic works continue to evolve and connect with audiences for generations to come. Musical theatre sits at the heart of the business. LW Entertainment shapes the long-term vision for some of the most celebrated titles ever written, including Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita, Sunset Boulevard, and Starlight Express. LW Entertainment partners with industry-leading creative teams, producers, and organisations to deliver ground-breaking experiences and products across multiple entertainment formats - from theatrical productions, immersive experiences and music to film, publishing and consumer products. Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed the scores of some of the world's most famous musicals. His shows have run continuously in London's West End for 50 years and ran for 43 uninterrupted years on Broadway. When the original Sunset Boulevard joined School of Rock, CATS, and Phantom of the Opera, he equalled Rodgers & Hammerstein's record of four shows running simultaneously on Broadway. He is one of the select group of artists with EGOT status, having received Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards. Lloyd Webber owns six London theatres including the iconic London Palladium and Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Reopened in July 2021, the latter was completely restored and renovated at a cost of over e60 million. This was one of the biggest projects ever undertaken by a private theatre owner in recent times. His mantra is that every penny of profit made from his theatres is ploughed back into the buildings for their conservation and development. Lloyd Webber is passionate about the importance of musical education and diversity in the arts. Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation provides 30 performing arts scholarships every year for talented students with financial need and supports a range of projects such as the Music In Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST). In academic year September 2025-2026, 14,885 children are being given free musical tuition and instruments as part of MiSST's Andrew Lloyd Webber Programme. The Foundation also commissions research into diversity in theatre. Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed music for globally significant moments. Most recently, he was asked to compose \"Make a Joyful Noise\", the anthem for the Coronation of King Charles III. Andrew Lloyd Webber was knighted in 1992, created an honorary life peer in 1997, and made a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter by King Charles III in 2024. He is the only person in the arts ever granted this personal honour by a monarch.
