A View from the Bridge
Eddie Carbone is a longshoreman and a straightforward man, with a strong sense of decency and of honour. For Eddie, it's a privilege to take in his wife's cousins, Marco and Rodolpho, straight off the boat from Italy.
A View from the Bridge is a tragic masterpiece of the inexorable unravelling of a man.
Eddie Carbone is a longshoreman and a straightforward man, with a strong sense of decency and honour. For Eddie, it's a privilege to take in his wife's cousins, newly arrived from Italy. However, as his niece begins to fall for one of them, it's clear that the issue is not merely, as Eddie claims, that he's too strange, too sissy, or too careless for her.
Instead, there is something bigger and deeper wrong, something inside Eddie that he cannot face. This internal conflict threatens the happiness of their entire family.
